lets start with Vaper's Wave

My associate who is an expert on the subject tells me it is spelled Vaporwave

Why?
It's not a genre -- if I wanted to listen to ambient techno, I'd listen to an ambient techno playlist and not have to concern myself with
outdated trends and illegible oriental brother names
Not even counting the godawful community

the vaporwave subgenre 'future funk' is actually aight imo

also the only reason why people believe that vaporwave is bad is because of the memewave part of it, and the fact that they've only heard macintosh plus which isn't really that good.

I'll be honest, vaporwave (mostly referring to"future funk" when I say this) has an alright sound on it's own. It's honestly nothing new though, as many fans will preach.

anybody can use autotune in any genre that has vocals period

autotune isn't automatically bad either, while there is a stigma that it is 'fake' and that it 100% of the time produces that cher effect, you can do some neat duehh with it if used it properly

good modern rap exists albeit I don't know much about rap so I don't have any examples

yea but every modern rap i've heard that uses autotune is not good

i gave autotune a try a few months back
it's pretty good for giving things otherwise improbable pitches, mostly vocals of course, without totally beep up the grains, latency and what not and not having to deal with an unwanted phasey sound (that comes with a lot of pitchers).
but then again so is melodyne
It if wasn't obvious, it's more of a tool than an "instant studio magik" switch.
A lot of rappers just slap it on a vocal track and put in a scale,and that just sounds awful and shows that not only can they not sing, but cant mix either
it's also used in a lot of scene-level scream-boy bands in the same way. the whole metallic sounding vocals is a trademark for people who either don't know how to use it or are intentionally misusing it
