probably mostly mastering, yes. multitrack sequencing(vocab?) of tracks i play on my keyboard with vsts from the internet. that sort of thing. i tend to like a cacophony of different tracks that harmonize and soundtracks/albums with repeating motifs give me boners so that'd probably be what i do. i've even worked on a little ditty i call "swashbucklers of the caribbean" that i think would be alex's theme and some vocal-ish ambient menu music both when i thought quantumbound was going to be a game but only as ideas

yeah my understanding of famitracker if you just put in a base 16 2-digit number and it then tells you if this is a C# or an F or whatever next to said number
they're not really pirate dragons. the series has a small pirate motif to tip a fedora to its one piece inspiration and the fact that pirates were generally speaking RCGs and miles ahead of the status quo (i mean look at the wiki article on pirate code my favorite is rule ten it's so fucking communist) and the fact that some of their activity is "technically" space piracy. that and it looks cool, and dude puerto ricans lmao. like i said in my evangelion spergout it's really just another small measure to keep the work tight, cohesive and focused, make the central ideas more prominent, certain and easy to understand. and really half of my decision to go for a pirate motif was the song in the first place- it started off as pretty melancholy but i realized how pirate-y it sounded when i sped it up.

so in terms of armor, do you guys want me to do the spinnythings method(the main armors have cosmetic effects in addition to the regular stuff and there are misc defensive things) or just a standard rpg method(just a bunch of random armors)

honestly the "go to the store and buy armor" thing always pissed me off as unrealistic because especially when it's on the scale of a final fantasy game you have to imagine the weakest one is basically made of clouds and the strongest one is stronger than anything you could realistically wear. in my rpg i was (am?) just going to scale defense and evasion instead and have an enchantment system, which sounds like what you're describing as spinny's idea
of course autismos about realism aside i feel like the other idea makes more sense gameplay wise as well

tbh since i have a crafting system, i'm actually considering doing it like this instead:
at the start of the game, you get one armor: ottd armor
this armor can be upgraded to a certain amount(maybe like 10 - 20 levels(depending on how long the game is)
you just need to recraft the armor to upgrade it
if you end up deciding to go the communist route then that armor is replaced by the communist armor which will have a different set of attributes

ultimates should be fun
for armors i think like, there should be baseline armors that provide the basics like defense and stuff but like in between acts have other armors which are slightly weaker with effects. what i would do anyways
like if spinny's is like, armors that act like armor with fx here and there then go for it but im not sure what you mean by cosmetic effects

they'd also have a cosmetic difference(the pimp suit would be purple, the eve online outfit was sci fi for example)

in that case i figure it'll go like this
each armor is based on a forum and it'll be colored based on that(totl armor will be black and white for example)
the effects be debated later
in terms of defense, i figure i could do it 2 ways:
you can upgrade the armors through crafting
or
they'll be other defensive items
