i've always wanted a game where you do like mario parkour in real settings. i guess that was the same idea with sonic adventure but they didn't really do much with it other than escape from the city

this nigga just said sonic adventure is parkour

so i was lookin around earlier and i found a quake/doom style engine, version 0.8
i download it right, and it's basically just the game that comes with it, i think it was just a showoff of the engine (it has a real 3d environment unlike doom but same kinda 2d entities, and it plays more like wolfenstein with jumping)
so after realizing it was a showcase basically, still hungry to make some oldschool fps, I booted up doombuilder and started fucking around til I got bored.

before that, I did leave a comment on the 'tutorial' of the level editor that didn't come with the engine. asking where the editor was and the dev actually got back to me and hooked me up with a dl link for it
"it wasnt released but if you want..." he says, dont know what to expect but i cant expect much. whole things coded in c i believe and i have bare trendy knowledge of c, so the probabiliy of me being able to make a full project with it is unlikely but im excited to boot it up and see what i can do, which I'll do tomorrow.

However fuckin with doom again got me thinkin about the possibilities, if I can get the hang of fucking with it's resources.

alright so i took a sneak peak and it looks pretty well rounded, i wasnt expecting it to actually have an entity placement tool

somethins a little broken with the texture implementer though, when i tried to add a texture to a brick it wouldnt pull up anything to load textures but it had the interface all there

was fucking around in doom, trying to get mods to work and shit

for some god damn reason gzdoom isn't reading part of the decorate script for any weapon mods, it'll evidently read ammo type and shit like that but the crucial parts like weapon slots and disabling auto aim make for straight up literal errors when trying to run in gzdoom
which doesn't make any fuckin sense
