mr belgium wrote:can you explain, in simple terms, the differenece between imaginary & complex numbers to me

you can post here or PMme, thank you
A complex number is simply any number that contains real AND imaginary parts - 3 is a real number, 2i is an imaginary number, and the quantity 2i - 3 is a complex number - they take the form a + bi (or bj, or jb if you're an electrical engineer) where a and b are real numbers and i/j is imaginary

i think the best way to explain the difference is that complex numbers are guaranteed to be infinite. so basically, they have real (integers) and imaginary (i, where 0 = 0i) pieces. so "i + 7" is a complex number

suppose if you have your x and y axis and a z axis. keep adding sets, or fake lines, like a j or k axis, which means you are adding more dimensions. that number has 5 parts now, three of which are real (x and y and z axis). you go on and on, adding more fake axises

it even works out when dealing with transcendental numbers (non algebraic)

i havent found a lot of uses of math when making robots

i was going to do some differentials work to approximate the correct volume of a thing i did for calculus bc but then i realized the difference in volume was too small to show
