i was playing gta iv and new vegas when i was 10, but i was never violent as a kid so my dad never had a problem with it.

I was playing shit like van helsing, hunter the reckoning: redeemer, fable, and flash games where you torture people when I was like 6 and binge watched shit like madness combat and aqua teen (which I 70% didn't understand at the time) and watched straight up porn.
i turned out just fine lol. I think, for the most part, unless you are susceptible to or have mental disorders that incur violent tendencies and blur judgement, m rated games shouldnt have much of an adverse effect on you
