it actually is it's all about where they get their money from and what their ties are

and they have significant enough ties to get into both national conventions so i'd say they're definitely not alternate media

you know when people say media they mean big media owned by conglomerates they just happen to be a big independent

that does not mean they're alternate media

how am i playing semantics i'm laying out the facts which are that TYT is massive, significant enough to get into the national conventions, and at one point was an actual TV show on a political channel which is indicative of the fact that they are basically a smaller branch of the mainstream media

no lol they're much more populist than establishment media

besides those concerns are exactly why jimmy dore is doing his own thing now

nice buzzwords but being more "populist" doesn't mean they aren't a part of the establishment, mainstream media

populism isn't a buzzword and yeah it does because establishment media has never been populist

the only statement that's even slightly correct there is "establishment media has never been populist" and outside of that you don't know what the word populist means and are abusing it so badly i think william jennings bryan is probably rolling in his grave

populism is the opposite of elitism, it's the belief that the policies that should be implemented in government should be the policies the masses support and not just the people who are deemed worthy of an opinion. tyt is populist in that sense but maybe a better word is pro-working class

that would make virtually all forms of policy populism at which point the mainstream media becomes populist and your complaints do not matter

which is why pro-worker is a better word

which then means nothing because a lot of papers are pro-worker and your distinction is irrelevant so TYT becomes mainstream media

literally every remotely liberal paper in existence because one of the core themes of the democratic party is the protection and expansion of worker's rights

Across the board tax-cuts for the low and middle class and small businesses.

Change tax rules to not encourage shipping jobs overseas.

Uphold labor protections and the right to unionize.

Mandate equal pay for equal work regardless of gender, race, or ethnicity.

straight out of their policy positions

unless upholding labor protections and allowing workers to unionize doesn't count all of a sudden

pro-worker papers actually talk about it and call out the us government when necessary and talk about strikes etc.

none of the major ones do any of that in fact one of the best news sources i've been able to find is fucking jacobin

just because they're not calling for strikes 24/7 doesn't mean they aren't pro-worker
