im honestly really glad they aren't letting guitar hero/rock band die. its the best series of party games that isnt smash bros. i heard that harmonix is trying to work with sony and microsoft to make 360 and ps3 controllers compatible so people dont have to re-buy all their instruments - again.

what are you talking about everything after GH2 was horrible
Re: NEW GUITAR HERO TO BE RELEASED FALL 2K15
ehh. guitar hero 2 was pretty good. its a series of several different "peaks", where theres a bunch of crap games between good ones. since it really comes down to the playlist, rockband 3 is currently the best buy, since it lets you port rb1/2 songs into it and there's a ridiculously large catalog of online marketplace albums. also it has more instruments.

Re: NEW GUITAR HERO TO BE RELEASED FALL 2K15
ok so i researched this and now im scared about it all.
guitar hero live and rockband 4 are both being made at the same time right now. they're both going to release around the same time, too. this worries me. the rhythm game scene is currently a sad limping dog, and it's probably going to be hard to revive if the two games that were responsible for getting it on the scene in the first place are released simultaneously. it creates too much competition to be healthy. however, i think people are probably going to care a whole lot more about rb4. mostly because it's just rockband 3 2, and all of the literal thousands of songs from that one can be ported to rb4, in addition to what rb4 already comes packaged with and what its own storefront will have. if you played rockband 3, there's really no further explanation to give. ghl, on the other hand, looks pretty depressing so far. there is one cool thing about it: the controller ( https://www.guitarhero.com/game/controller ). 2x3 buttons sounds really fun to play with, and they didn't mess up anything on the body portion. what's depressing is that this is the *only* controller for it - no other instruments are planned. on top of that, the artist list looks too modern. by too modern, i mean boy bands, sad boy bands, somewhat sad boy bands, teenager boy bands, and... dubstep. i'm going based on the list of artists on the site so far. check that controller link. it's an incomplete list, but it doesn't look that great so far. i guess fall out boy is cool or whatever. maybe green day. aside from the artist lineup, though, there's also the fact that they took out the cool cartoon graphics entirely. everything is now done from a first person camera? recording a real life performance of a real live concert and audience? i mean, that's kinda cool i guess, but it's so weird. not bad, but radically different. there's also this saddening sort of "pseudo-multiplayer" where you cant actually play with other people online, but they can sit and spectate as *you* play. incredibly dumb.
tldr: rockband 4 is more hype than guitar hero live. so far.
