FIFA is in full fucking damage control mode at this point trying to salvage what they can from this absolute shitfest (they're proposing term limits and some other fun stuff to be specific), and it's pretty likely blatter is in the crosshairs of the DoJ's investigations into FIFA, which is why he's getting the fuck out of dodge now while he still has a chance to make it to a country without an extradition deal with the USA

not that any of this is going to ultimately prevent FIFA from remaining a corrupt shitfest, but at least now some of the bigger, badder dudes are behind bars and the rest of the FIFA crew aware that they can't just expect to take a quaziggidillion and one bribes from shitty third world countries and expect everyone in the west to suspect nothing anymore
