It only seems to happen when there is a bunch of us in game. It has nothing to do with either mods cuz we tried it without and plus it works when theres like 3 or 4 of us

it's probably just the fact that with or without mods you have at least 3 -4 people with 200+ - 600+ units running around on the maps(and you and i both know the amount of disconnect/desync/whatever issues that happen even in those game)
that's going to mess with performance

if that isn't the issue then it's either
a. most of our internet's aren't great
b. the game can't handle it(which i doubt)
c. steam kinda screwed up with the multiplayer aspect of the game
d. some of column a and some of column b and c

personally i lean to c because i've played the oaky mod in a single player with 8 toughest level ai's without significant slowdown and my pc isn't amazing

Age of empires 2 is like 4 or 5 years older and can handle 8 players with 300 pop each, but the steam HD version also has tons of sync issues so its likely steam related bullshit which is gay
