the movement is really weird to me because my experience with robots doesn't go beyond the first dimension of freedom
to make jackie work without a lot of trial and error i need inverse kinematics and of course i need to balance the weight this time

Re: JAQUELINE - oaky's last cardboard robot
reading shit like this brings me back to the years i spent in high school trying to "figure out inverse kinematics" so i could get the angles for the servos to move to the right position instead of just using an existing library like a normal personsalty wrote:the movement is really weird to me because my experience with robots doesn't go beyond the first dimension of freedom

Re: JAQUELINE - oaky's last cardboard robot
for some reason even though i had no problem using libraries and frameworks for other things (90% of ottd's scripts are jquery and all of the funbox/other assorted electronics projects had libraries for graphics/SPI/I2C/etc) i HAD to make everything by hand with the roborts
Re: JAQUELINE - oaky's last cardboard robot
i did end up building just the leg though, ill show it someday to any interested persons i guess

true to what i said it is literally held together with duct tape and a few aluminum pieces from an old erector set
Re: JAQUELINE - oaky's last cardboard robot
i know once i finally put together all 4 legs and attached the body it was literally too heavy to stand up without being powered and barely had enough torque from the motors to move
the 3d printed spidery robots you guys have surely seen is the spiritual successor of her of course; as soon as i stopped working on this robot i ended up building my 3d printer and making the printed ones the following summer
