what should i name my book
Re: quantumbound general
if i had to choose between children's cartoon and volcanic id h go with the latter, though that'd probably piss off some volcano enthusiasts or somethin
i get the angle from both of them, i do, and I see the whole simplicity to inquiry thing but I don't think one word will be enough to go by to evoke that effectively
maybe you could have a heading title, maybe like the title of the series then the volume subtitle, but even then you'd have to stretch it a bit
let's see, one of the most popular books for the youngsters from what I remember istwilight with indians and millenials house of nyx, which off the title alone gives a brief idea, emphasizing what kind of fantasy they're going for, a particularly edgy angle, that this is about some dgy kids or something
i think if you just named it quantumbound itd come off a little toony and volcanic would be too vague
something that encompasses both the idea of puff the magic dragons and the time traveling, obviously being held up in a realm of fantasy... i'd personally use a reference to a notable plot element
will sebake -bed warmer chronicles the animorphs from tomorrow

Re: quantumbound general
hm... i like quantumbound: igneous. not a bad idea.
i see what you mean with quantumbound sounding like a 28% on rotten tomatoes science fiction movie starring will smith as The Black Friend or an anime. in truth that's kind of the idea, japan buys a shit ton of books and i think this can be right up their alley- but i think it works much better as a series name than a book name and was originally conceived as such.
>time traveling
wew that's not part of the story at all because it's impossible. whatever i'll let it slide

Re: quantumbound general
tbh all of them sound pretty vague but if i saw a book called quantumbound it would at least stand out enough for me to read the blurb on the back

Re: quantumbound general
you're right about one thing- vague is kind of the idea because a "this is what the book is about" title would be a book of its own
actually yeah when i was thinking of a name replacement for "retcon" i was like "what's a catchy scifi-y name. homestuck. it's a noun and then a participle but it doesn't actually mean anything unless you read it. you hear it and you think 'what the fuck is homestuck'. let's see, homestuck... there's quantum shit but no houses so i could do quantum... bound and i'll bullshit what it means later. quantumbound yeah i can do that"

Re: quantumbound general
quantumbound is "technically" relevant to the story. quantum parallel would barely be so unless i introduced ideas i haven't introduced yet.room wrote:so can i have a super brief synopsis of this story btw i thought of a couple of good names but theyre probsbly not relevant
(thought 'quantum parallel' might be cool but eh)
tl;dr man gives up on life, is given a way out that doesn't involve suicide by aliums, takes his buddies, ends up somewhat on accident on an island that dragons live on, learns about them, aliums accidentally attract evil empire they want to fight to said island, they fight the aliums, someone dies and this sets off a whole chain of events including many dragons joining the party, the book ends with them shaken but not stirred and newly equipped standing in front of a wormhole the aliums made

1. aliensroom wrote:1. what the fuckre aliums
2. it sounds like you dont have enough plot mapped out for an entire novel, why're you worrying about names
3. is this some sort of scaliefic
2. if warriors can pad out one book into 6 i can pad out half a book into one. besides book 1 is mostly about introducing the dragons and then the aforementioned action scene will take up a significant chunk of it
3. if you mean "the humans and the dragons can and may fall in love" then yes
yeah it's minesamoyed wrote:this is ya literature right
jk yes target audience is 13-23

Re: quantumbound general
that's the term for it broham if you mean "horribly written with no real depth and an obnoxious focus on harem romance shit and also targeted towards 13-23" then it's not any of those things except the last one
most of the characters are in that same age range at least mentally and it concerns issues interesting to that demographic and it has a lot of action but no it's not dystopiashit or anything like that, the main thing setting it apart from "adult" fiction is who's going to be buying it

Re: quantumbound general
REEEEEEEEEEEEEEE it ate my postroom wrote:it currently seems like your protag is one-dimensional as fuck, sexual tension will happen, and the evil empire is just doing shit for the evulz without having any sort of motivation but of course i asked for a brief synopsis are any of those currently true.
there's a bio on my protag i think on page 1 dude. he's no "holden from catcher in the rye" but he's also no "obligatory male lead". he deals with suicidal thoughts, sexuality, and past and present suffering. yes sexual tension will happen but unlike in shiterature where it's used for cheap drama or for fat white girls to sigh longingly at i plan to use it to make character interactions more interesting and help bring out the characters personality and character development. after all it's only realistic that a bunch of young adults and upper teens would fall in love with each other. Evil Empire simply seeks the acquisition of power and has objectionable ways of seeking it, and is ultimately an extension of its founder, who has other motivations such as getting revenge on his homeworld and running reality the way he thinks it should be run
