good sprite animating programs?

Anything that lets you put in a grid
Really that's about it lol. I'm sure if you just typed in sprite animation program on google you'd get a decent number of compatible software.
Gmk' native sprite editor is pretty fuckin sweet tbh

I used gimp for most of The Billy Game's sprites, i think it has a pretty customizable grid

how does one make good pixel art
i'd like to give it a shot so i can make some of the enemies for the otx rpg

experience
do a little study on how those nintinders got their megaman or whatever then try it out
it's like drawing normal shit but trying to abbreviate the features into nes blocks

i make all of my sprites in ms paint

i made a pixel art of one of my characters from scratch with no experience besides modifying another pixel art icon
