yeah thats what im saying though, if a zombie outbreak were to feasibly happen, a blind eye would have to be turned to like the first 100 'zombies'
if it climbs to that number and then people start realizing it, it'd be harder to gather them all up - by the time you do they'd've already made about 100 more zombies

unless it's an airborne virus or whatever we want to say it is, the mere fact that it basically renders all of its victims as shambling, rotting wrecks would be severely disadvantageous, pretty obvious, and easy to halt. even if the signs weren't immediately obvious, the mere fact that it would be difficult to spread would probably neuter it before it got anywhere like what usually happens with outbreaks of ebola

you'd probably need the perfect storm of misfortune for it to realistically propagate to a point where it couldn't be easily contained

i'd estimate the time it takes for someone to become a mindless flesh eater to be like, 5 hours or something
if the first five patients, lets say, lived in different area codes and you could get it as easy as a cold after the first hour or two of infection, there'd be a good chance to nab that many people over a day. my hypothetical model i was previously using was like, 5 patients in completely different parts of the us
