Bolded classes are required. Italicized classes are possibly required. Unformatted classes are electives. Assume you have an average teacher for these classes. A good teacher can make any class asides from a Hell Tier one worthwhile. A bad teacher can ruin a class for you.

You have to determine the oxidation numbers. Something like N₂ will have an oxidation number of 0. Flourine always has an oxidation number of -1. Hydrogen always has an oxidation number of +1. Oxygen usually has an oxidation number of -2.

Then you need to write half reactions, one for reduction, one for oxidation.

LEO says GER (Loss of elections - Oxidation, Gain of electrons - Reduction) is a way to remember which thing is being reduced and which thing is being oxidized.

To balance a reaction, you'll need to balance both atoms and charge. You may need to add H⁺ and H₂O to do this (assuming it is balanced in acid).
