what do you guys think of crafting systems for rpgs
a few factors are making me lean toward adding one

- how can dogman beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee so stupid:
- 1. enemies are largely going to be on map(unlikely i'll be making them respawn)(no random encounters)
2. the hardware issues shop is the only shop(you can buy/unlock a pda to purchase things in the levels)
3. gives a player an incentive to actually bother fighting enemies

there is a penalty for killing the playable bosses and a penalty if you decide to kill your party members(the boss will ask you to do so once you reach them)roomo wrote:are there any penalties for killing mooks?

so i've found a decent way(in my mind) to do the whole kill the boss or kill the party member thing
sorry about the wordwall but it's mostly for me since i assume nobody is going to play this anyway
- trash:
- so each zone has a person assigned to it(with the exception of the playable bosses) that will be your party member for that zone(which you can unlock and bring with you on the rest of the adventure)
so you can bring along 1 party member that you've unlocked with you when you go into a zone and then you do whatever you need to do inside that zone.
when you get to the boss room, something(going to try to make it a specific thing for each zone) happens to your other party member so you'll need to go inside the boss room with you and the zone's dude.
once you get in the boss will do the classic boss whatever dialogue and then ask you to kill the zone dude.
say yes and you fight the zone dude alone(still getting the issues with this worked out, mainly levels and weapons) and after beating them you get some form of compensation from the boss(new perk/weapon/item/dds).
say no and the fight continues as usual.

here's how it works
example:
you buy a standard keyboard at the trc
you take it to the upgrade store and use shitpostium and keyboard parts to upgrade it
you lose the shitpostium,keyboard parts, and the standard keyboard but you get a brand new standard keyboard i
here's how it works
- uninteresting nonsense:
- certain enemies will drop crafting items(example: the communist leaflet will drop a hammer and sickle and/or maybe something rarer)
you take these items to the hardware issues upgrade shop
you read the recipe book, input the number of the item you want to craft
if you have the correct number of items and dds, you get the item and lose the materials

crafting is also the only way (currently, might make it so bosses/rare enemies drop them) to get the legendary items(current ones: declaration of independence, corndogs, mozzerella sticks, pizza, and cheeseburgers)

i would but i know almost nothing about the guy and the wiki article isn't exactly great when it comes to info him. so he'd be a pretty lackluster boss(in terms of skills/attacks to differentiate him from a regular damage sponge boss).
though in all fairness he'd be a tutorial boss and those aren't exactly known for being amazing so i dunno.
