that's why you start with the english dub of spirited away and then pick something inventive and westaboo-y for your second watch like TTGL or JJBA or hell, both they're both great

polar bear cafe is another good one as is samurai flamenco but it's probably not up everyone's alley as shown by the fact japs paid it no mind at all and the studio went bankrupt

what you have to understand is that anime isnt a franchise its a genre and its going to have its stereotypically awful yet popular shit like literally any other genre in any other form of media

some of it is spice and wolf good i can no really attest. also ghibli is good obviously they have worldwide renown for their films
