naturally people are bitching about this and saying that "THE SUPREME COURT HAS TOO MUCH POWER UGHHHHH THIS SHOULDN'T BE A GOVERNMENT ISSUE LE CONSTITUTIONE HAS NO SAY IN THIS"

i mean, i'm mostly indifferent to stuff like this, but something tells me you could start a war over this shit

people are going to bitch for awhile about how it's the supreme court reaching and all that fun stuff and i'm sure you'll be seeing a brief surge of the usual bigotry from the particularly vitriolic anti-gay marriage crowd as is true of any binding SCOTUS case like this but i doubt anybody is going to give enough of a fuck to try and fight this beyond an individual level

except maybe alabama i guess since it's alabama

oh and for the record, the right to marriage equality is in fact a part of the constitution from what i understand

it's covered under the fourteenth amendment's substantive due process clause or something like that

i think it's safe to say though that with this ruling there's pretty much no way that there's going to be a republican in the white house when 2016 rolls around

this entire week has pretty much systematically dismantled them, from the systematic annihilation of dixieland, to the saving of obamacare, to clinton and sanders being on an unstoppable roll

it kind of astounds me how ridiculous all the dissents are


this is from clarence thomas, who for the record, is a black man, meaning that not even 50 years ago he could not marry people because of the interracial marriage laws that loving v virginia struck down which existed in a pretty significant number of states
