high school and college are reasonably good measures of your intelligence though

broadly speaking there is a mild correlation between how far you go in your education and your intelligence and you would generally expect someone with a PhD to be more intelligent than someone who only completed high school although motivation and social status can also be factors

well the main reason why a high school diploma is usually taken over a GED is because to get a GED you have to basically have not graduated high school, which makes perfect sense to me
