I can assure you that is 100% not true.
Southern pride is mostly permeated throughout the neighborhoods and trap houses. Those who don't care for it, but aren't ashamed, much like my mother, simply don't comment on it. My neighbor, however flies the flag, and my marine cousin (who comes home today! : ] ) has the American flag and the Rebel flag tattooed on him.
Speaking of which, let us all give him a salute for his service!

It serves as a reminder of one's roots. Let's not forget the South had the most able military leaders during the Civil war, and they were doing no more than defending their homeland.

ya except for the part where they completely fucking smoked the CSA on sea, fucked them up in the west and on the mississippi, and then burned a swath of georgia so badly and so expansively in the middle of raping the south to hyper levels that the region and the south as a whole has not yet fully recovered from the absolute colon crucifixion it received

you can argue about how badly the confederates beat the union in a few standup battles like chancellorsville and fredericksburg but at the end of the day it sure as shit wasn't the union that had to literally rebuild its society from the ground up
