the mod is there so the game doesnt boil down to remembering to press all of the buttons that arent grayed out until the age advancement button stops being grayed out in rapid-fire succession

you gotta upgrade and hold off the enemy during those eras it makes things more interesting

if you cant handle that in RoN the AoEII community would buttfuck you

every era is that except for the ancient age but you wouldnt know because you rush to the industrial age before making anything

No ones stopping you from making an early army and killing shit

other than that there's absolutely nothing stopping you from getting an army of rabble together

if you have issues with a lack of resources anytime after late classical era you should reevaluate your economy
only thing i ever seem to slightly lack in is metal but thats slightly rarer than all other resources

of the 4 rts games ive played all of them kinda work in a way that if you want to do early aggression, you kinda have to give up advancing quickly
rise of nations never intended for you to have a gigantic army anyway so it shouldnt really be that costly
and dont you play as americans? how are resources + army a problem?
