or in laymans terms:

"unitary parliamentary republic" - the krystala'ia is basically run by a parliament which is elected by the people, and it isn't made up of a federation of states like its neighbors

"constitutional oligarchic federation" - equestria runs off of a constitution and is governed by an oligarchy that oversees a federation of states

"federal constitutional monarchy" - aetaliluunde is a federation of states which is run by a monarchy that is constitutionally restricted and checked by a parliament

"absolute monarchy" and "absolute oligarchy" - in the crystal empire, the monarch of the nation is the supreme power. monarchs can be elected, but only if there is no heir to the throne. in the chanslinnorluunds, there is an oligarchic system which holds absolute power, and each oligarch (there are twelve in total) has, on paper anyways, supreme power in their area of the land. they themselves all hail to a grand overseer, who is appointed by them and ultimately holds all the power in the chanslinnorluunds

"non-partisan democracy" - the svenians don't really have a government outside of chieftainship so their system of governing boils down to a democratic vote in which there aren't any real politics

"unitary semi-presidential constitutional republic" - the drakonsiluundes is governed by a democratically elected head of state (pareshedent -- president), and its legislation is determined by a prime minister (ominesterja) -- minister) plus a cabinet (the kyoben). the cabinet responds directly to the parliament (the palidaija, which is broken down into the national palidaija, the palidaija of the drakonsiluundes, and the palidaija of drakonsila'ia), and the parliament can throw the cabinet out if it deems it necessary. it's comically complicated but hey, dragons

"federal presidential constitutional republic" - this is the system that the united states government uses, and it is very similar in lunaria. there is a president who is democratically elected and governs over a federation of states

1) the continent is huge as fuck, and equestria alone is about 2,000 miles across at its widest point and a total of over two million square miles

2) every one of them is spoken by a specific group of people

- Eloonis is a relatively new language that is spoken by Western Dragons of the Drakonsiluundes. it was at one point a dialect of Standard Drakona, but has since diverged so heavily from Standard Drakona that it is a language in its own right. take, for example, the sentence, "If I didn't know any better, I'd say you were part pony!" in Eloonis, this is "Kep e deesny kolha bej byda, edy som oo yiten da-Ely!" and in Standard Drakona it's "Kaph-e-deshy kolhe bebida, yiten som o yiten da-Eloonessiansi."

- Svenian is the language of the buffaloes that hang out around Appleloosa, and have their own wacky little place called Svenia. Svenian is literally totally unrelated to any of the languages around it, and the only reason their numbers are even close to similar is due to Equestrian's huge influence

- Equestrian is of course the maiden language of the Equestrians.

- Aetali is the language of the Zebras, and for the most part it's Equestrian but with a few extra sounds. the two are usually mutually intelligible -- an Equestrian could understand "Tediya, ve trov ava ara chojtals. Ve ara Aetaliluunde, en ve ara aza!!" for example -- but Aetali has lots of false friends due to its close ties with the Changeling tongue (Chanslinnor) and it is growing farther apart from Equestrian with every passing year

- Chanslinnor is the tongue of the Changelings, and it's unpronounceable for most people because, well, pronunciation is a bit hard when half of the letters do not correspond with their usual sounds. for example Akuriżalijċ -- one of the Chanslinnorsi queens -- has her name pronounced something akin to Ukwuurichulichw. this is why she goes by what people know her better as -- Chrysalis.

- Lunarian is the constructed tongue of the Lunarians -- those who disagreed with the Banishment of the Pvintas Luna. it heavily resembles Equestrian on paper, and indeed, many of its words are influenced by Equestrian, but it is actually less intelligible to an Equestrian than a language like Eloonis. this doesn't stop some people, though, from learning it (Apila, Mazheien, and Apilania all are fluent in it because of their need to communicate in order to sell apples)

- Standard Drakona is the tongue of the Adborthos Drakona, who inhabit a small state which is bisected by the Arieles Kingdom and directly below the Kryfona Kingdom. despite being the "Standardized" tongue of Drakona, only 1/4th of the population actually speaks it, with the rest being divvied between Eloonis and Edazoran Drakona (as you'll see)

- Kryfona is the tongue of the Kryfona, who encompass the Standard Gryphons (basically, think about sixty million vaguely Gilda looking things) and a couple other little subsects of gryphons. it is the inherited tongue of most of the Tuszkean Kryfona (see below a bit) and Yaraan Kryfona (see below also) bands. By L1 speakers Kryfona is the most spoken language in the OU besides English

- Arieles is the tongue of the Arieles, who are essentially a species of phoenix-like beings that, far from being true phoenixes, are not on fire. it's weird as fuck, and there's about 120 million of them running around. their language is one of the least related to Equestrian and co.

those are just the ones on the list there, if i wanted to i could have also added:

- Edazoran Drakona, the tongue of the Edazoyasi dragon branch and a wholly separate language from Standard Drakona. Edazoran makes due without R and N, and is just in general a lot more unwieldy than SD

- Tuszkean, the tongue of the Tuszke Kryfona. pretty much totally unrelated to Equestrian, and with shit like "Gä Kezaňňeta!" it's not hard to see why

- Yaraan, the weird pseudo-cousin to Kryfona. originally a pretty distinct language from Kryfona, Yaraan has basically turned into a Kryfona dialect without becoming a true Kryfona dialect. you can tell something is Yaraan if it includes the letters ŏ or ŭ

- Idyka/Idiri, the unbelievably fucked up language of the Idyka, a subsect of Arieles who want independence. you can always tell when something is idiri because it makes use of Š, Ǩ, Ẃ, Ẍ, and Ʒ

- Stjetim, the also fucked up language of the Stjetim, who also want independence from the Arieles and are a subsect of them
