canonically, canterlot is for most intents and purposes a fucking plateau built into the side of a mountain, so more or less, yes. the changes in elevation aren't exactly on the level of san francisco

it's a fucking stupid idea though, not least because it means anything that falls down the mountain basically turns the city into a bowling alley, so don't follow the tradition.

i don't think they have to put in that much consideration for city planning since its for all intents and purposes a show for kids, despite how much that assumption failed.

you don't have to be a city planner to realize putting a city literally off the side of a mountain is beyond retarded

its a childrens show. its a goddamn childrens show fantasy, you don't have to be ultra-realistic if it means having a boring setting
